If you’re looking for a healthier alternative to beloved Oreo biscuits, then this protein snack is a wrong address. It’s nothing like that. And it has way too much of added sugar in it. You’d better skip it and grab an Oreo biscuit. Or even three of them.
You might not know this brand (I didn’t before), but it’s available in PROZIS online store. It’s a small protein
bar snack that has not too bad 26% of protein and only 137kcal. Where’s the catch? In sugar content and poor ingredients. And it’s better to know that, so you could skip this XCORE Nutrition Protein Snack Cookies & Cream Flavour and carry on.
First things first, this XCORE protein snack doesn’t smell excellent. It’s more like a milk-flavoured snack with a touch of sweetness (or vanilla) in it. That combination is not too bad, but I wouldn’t call it inviting. Anyway, this protein snack has a pretty nice texture, being soft and slightly crumbly throughout, so no problem with biting into it and eating here. It’s only slightly chewy and sticky, while being good in moisture, too.
Instead of that, you’d be better off choosing a traditional Oreo biscuit. Or two of them.
All of that, because this XCORE protein snack doesn’t taste what it promises. There’s a lot of milky flavour in it, combined with vanilla (or sweetness), again! So the balance of the flavour could be much better. However, there’s also a bitterish aroma in it, too. The snack itself is decently sweet (not oversweet, though), but I wouldn’t call it a satisfying protein snack.
That’s the reason I wouldn’t want to have another of this XCORE Protein Snack Cookies & Cream flavour in one sitting. Blame it for its macros and ingredients.
Macros (that are given for 100g only, really?), that’s an interesting thing. A tiny, 35g bar (mine was less than 32g!) has nominally 137kcal, only 9.1g (26%) of protein and a staggering 13.3g(!) of added sugar! Also, its ingredients are poor with, along with added sugar, palm oil, fructose syrup and glucose syrup. How they could create something like that?
But that’s OK, it happens. And if you would want to have anything better in flavour and macros than this XCORE protein snack offers, you should pick original Oreo biscuits. How much of them? Even as much as three of them, that would pack 156kcal, 1.8g of protein and 12.6g of sugar. Are you ready to sacrifice 7g of protein for much, much better taste? I am.
This is a really wrong approach to the protein snack.
Let’s see. By letting go 7g of protein, you gain way much better flavour, less sugar (just 0.7g, but still) and a bit of money. That’s why this XCORE Nutrition Protein Snack Cookies & Cream Flavour is not worth anything. Do yourself a favour – skip it, buy Oreo and indulge yourself in a real and delicious Cookies & Cream flavour. You’re welcome.
Would I buy it again? Nope, no chances for that.
