OMG! This Weider bar is simply poor in taste with a metallic aftertaste in it. But I get it, it may be the aftertaste of tons of thrown crap-iron at the gym. If so, then this protein bar is for PROs only.
We have already reviewed a couple of Weider’s protein snacks. And you know what? Too many of them turned out to be mediocre ones. I mean, there are three of them that scored less than 5/10 pts, which means they’re mediocre. Here they are, Strawberry-Vanilla 13% Carbs + Protein Bar, All American Cookie Dough Protein Cookie and Double Choc Chips Protein Cookie. Not the best achievement, indeed. And it looks like this Weider 32% Protein-Bar White Chocolate-Banana Flavour will join them. Well, what a surprise.
It doesn’t start good, as this protein bar is not too fragrant. There’s a bit of banana aroma in it, along with a touch of a white chocolate scent. Also, there’s that specific whey protein whiff in it making it not too exciting or inviting. A not too tough on the outside, this protein bar is soft on the inside. In other words, there’s no problem with biting into it at all. Another good thing in this bar is it’s only slightly chewy and barely sticky. That’s good. And chances are you won’t need any sip while eating it.
‘Tons of thrown crap-iron in the gym’ flavour.
This Weider protein bar doesn’t taste good. It has an easily detectable aroma of something metallic in it. It may be a taste of these tons crap-iron you thrown in the gym, but I’m not 100% sure about it. There’s also a bit of the white chocolate flavour. And even less of banana. That pretty rare composition of flavours is a bit far from being pleasant, tasty or desirable. And although it’s somewhat sweetish, it’s still not too delicious. But at the same time, it’s not disgusting.
Anyway, do I want another serving of this Weider White Chocolate-Banana protein bar after the first one? Not at all. It’s not too tasty and I like to keep all that scrap-iron in the gym. So nope, thank you.
When it comes to macros of this bar, it’s not lightweight. A 60g bar has 241 kcal, 6.2g of fat, 27g of carbs (of which 17g of sugar) and an OK 19g of protein. Not too impressive. The ingredients list is poor, unfortunately, as it contains added sugar, palm fat, glucose syrup and fructose syrup.
And these are a good reason to say it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go.
An iron-tasted protein bar. For hard-core gym goers.
This Weider 32% Protein-Bar White Chocolate-Banana Flavour tastes like the gym. An old-fashioned gym with many old barbells that smells that specific, metallic way. And that may be an idea. The thing is, however, it could be good 20 or 30 years ago, but not today. And it’s not, as this bar is not tasty at all. And it’s nothing worth your attention.
Will I ever go back to this Weider protein bar? Not actually. If I wanted that specific flavour, then I’d lick any barbell in the gym. It would be the same. And a bit cheaper. I am just joking. But this is how silly the flavour of this (and this) protein bar is.
