I don’t like to be right. Seriously. But this time I am. This protein bar has too much salt in itself. And as the result of that, instead of being chocolate and sweet, it’s salty. Too salty.
We have seen a similar situation before. Oatein Salted Caramel protein cookie with its 1.4g of salt per 100g. Or… another USN TRUST CRUNCH Protein Bar, Salted Caramel Peanut. It contains 1.34g of salt per 100g. Both of them are definitely too salty considering they’re protein bars. Protein bars, that eventually should be sweet and tasty, right? Anyway, USN TRUST CRUNCH High Protein Bar Fudge Brownie flavour is also too sweet. And honestly, I didn’t expect it. Saltiness? In brownie (flavour)? Well, it’s pretty surprising.
Judging by its fragrant, I’d never say it can be something wrong with this protein bar. It smells lovely, indeed. There’s a pleasant and inviting flavour of Fudge Brownie easily detectable. And once you get it, you may can’t wait to bite into it. Which may seem to be not so comfortable, as this bar is tough on the outside. But no worries, it’s surprisingly soft on the inside and there’s no problem with biting into it. And with eating it too, as this bar is just a bit chewy and sticky. Therefore, many may be able to wash it down without a sip. Pretty nice.
A fudge brownie bar with loads of salt? No, thanks.
The first thing you experience with this USN TRUST CRUNCH bar is… it’s decently crunchy. Say thank you to (most likely) soya crisps coating. Anyway, there’s a lot of fudge brownie flavour in this bar. And everything would be perfect if there’s not much too much of salt here. The nutritional information says it all – this bar contains more than 1g of salt per 100g. To be more precise, it’s 1.03g. And that amount is exaggerated a bit, ruining the flavour of this USN protein bar. It’s simply too salty, making it not too tasty. As long as you don’t combine a teaspoon of salted caramel with a teaspoon of salt. By the way, there’s not much milk chocolate in its flavour too.
Do I want another serving of this USN TRUST CRUNCH bar after the first one? Not actually. It’s far from being fudge brownie flavour. Or being tasty overall. So nope, one serving is more than enough for me.
What’s going on in macros? A 60g bar has only 213 kcal, 8.4g of fat, 16g of carbs (including
Well done, indeed. But it’s still not too good to give it a title of the finest protein bar on the go. Sorry.
A fudge brownie with loads of salt? No, thanks.
Too much of salt. Definitely. And we’ve got here what we’ve got. This USN TRUST Crunch High Protein Bar Fudge Brownie flavour is too salty. Therefore, not too tasty. And as everything in this bar is pretty OK, it’s still not enough to convince me to it.
Will I ever go back to this USN TRUST protein bar? Not actually. It’s not too tasty and this is basically the ONLY reason why I won’t.
