Extraordinarily chewy and very uncomfortable to eat. On the other hand, it’s a decently tasty protein bar. Could it be even more messed up?
This protein bar is pretty impressive. It has unique packaging. And it’s in the form of a cookie. Also, it’s not available just around the corner. In other words, you have to go online to find it out. Oh, and at roughly £2.75, it’s not cheap too. So the most important question here is: is it worth it at all? Is it worth that money? And my answer is: it depends. Let’s have a look at this pretty interesting, but not-too-cheap protein bar.
If the smell is the first thing that tells whether the protein bar is worth or it’s not to give it a try, then this one is for sure. It has a nice and pleasant aroma of chocolate truffle and it’s inviting. However, much less tempting is its texture, as it’s pretty toughish on the outside on a par with on the inside. To be more precise, its top is somewhat softish, but the bottom, the core of it, is decently tough. It reflects its ease of eating, which is significantly uncomfortable. Add to that this protein bar is exceptionally chewy, a bit sticky and somewhat dryish. And this is an excellent recipe for disaster.
This protein bar in the form of a cookie tastes lovely.
What a change! After a dramatic texture experience, you may have an affair with its taste. Although at the beginning it tastes a bit chilly, you’ll easily find a lovely aroma of chocolate and truffles in it. This combination is aromatic, deep and truly sweet (nearly oversweet). In a word, it’s delicious and enjoyable. Also, there’s no weird aroma or aftertaste. And that makes this bar a somewhat satisfying one (forget for now about its poor texture).
Am I fancy another serving of this Swolesome Food protein bar right after the first one? I would, for sure! But its literally dramatic texture puts me off. It was a struggle for me to finish off a single serving of it.
When it comes to macros, these are not so small. A single 86g
cookie bar has 269 kcal, 13g of fat, 27g of carbs (of which only 3g of sugar) and 18g of protein. Also, there’s 18g of fibre too. The ingredients list is pretty short and it contains ‘neutral’ ingredients.
Beautiful in taste, ugly in texture. And some other things in-between.
This Swalesome Foods Chocolate Truffle Protein Bar is delicious and lovely in taste. And decently sweet too. There’s no doubt about it. However, it’s texture, particularly the core of this protein bar, is dramatically bad. It’s chewy AF, its sticky and it ruins the whole experience of the bar. Therefore, even if I’d want to do it, I can’t recommend this protein bar that is, once again, beautiful in taste.
Will I ever go back to this Wholesome Food protein bar? In short, I will NOT. And I have pretty good reasons for that, obviously.
