This Snickers HI PROTEIN bar is nearly as good as a regular Snickers bar. That’s a plus. And it has almost as inferior ingredients and its traditional version. And that’s the minus. Still, it’s not a that bad alternative for sure.
We already reviewed a regular protein version of Snickers HI PROTEIN bar a while ago. And we liked its taste. The result? The final score at not that bad 6.4/10 pts., which means it’s good. This one, Snickers HI PROTEIN Peanut Butter Flavour scores lower. But it doesn’t mean it’s worse. It only lacks that peanut butter flavour. Despite that, you may like it anyway.
The smell. It’s good, but not perfect. There’s everything you may love in the aroma of it – chocolate, caramel and peanuts (a bit too much of them). But it lacks peanut butter. Or they’re way too subtle to notice it. Anyway, that overall sweetness is lovely and the bar is decently inviting. Also, it’s pretty easy to bite into it and eat despite peanuts in it (hint: they’re soft). The bar is noticeably chewy and middling sticky, but its moistness is really good. Oh, it also has a traditional shape of Snickers bar, so it’s pretty tight.
There’s everything in the flavour of this bar. Except for peanut butter.
There are peanuts and caramel flavours easily detectable. And they are decently tasty. But there is no significant flavour of peanut butter (nope, peanuts alone won’t make it). The bar itself is decently sweet, but it’s not a sweetness you know from the traditional Snickers bar. It’s more like sweeteners-like one – not extremely sweet with a touch of bitterness that doesn’t make a mess here, though. And somehow, this Snickers bar sneaks away from the definition of a regular protein bar – it’s nearly as tasty as a regular Snickers bar, but with way better macros. Anyway, it will make its way as a sweet protein bar, but I wouldn’t call it satisfying.
Would I want to have another Snickers HI PROTEIN bar of this flavour in one sitting? I’m not too sure about it.
When it comes to macros, it’s somewhere in the middle. It’s not as good as a traditional protein bar (that sugar!), but it’s way better than a traditional Snickers bar. At 57g, it packs 225kcal and 20g (35%) protein. The sugar content is pretty high for a protein bar (9.4g), but it’s much lower than you can find in a traditional Snickers (48g, 21.6g sugar!). The ingredients list is not worth mentioning, as it contains added sugar, palm fat and glucose syrup.
Not a bad alternative to a traditional Snickers. Still, it lacks a peanut butter kick.
Yes, I know, it’s not so easy to make tasty peanut butter. But hey, there’s not much of any peanut butter in this Snickers HI PROTEIN Peanut Butter Flavour. It’s tasty, it’s sweet and it has not that terrible macros (opposite to the inferior ingredients). But I wouldn’t call it peanut butter flavour much.
Will I ever go back to this SNICKERS HI PROTEIN bar in the future? I don’t think so, due to its poor ingredients. But I don’t say ‘NO’ for sure, as it’s still much better in macros than a traditional Snickers bar.
