This is not the taste of regular Vanilla Cheesecake. Period.

We’re sorry for such a short intro. But it sums it up perfectly. If you’re looking for a real vanilla cheesecake flavoured bar packed with an extra amount of protein, then… well, then you won’t find it here. The problem is, there’s too much of bitter aftertaste that ruins all the taste experience. And there’s another new Protein20 protein bar from SiS, Vanilla Cheesecake flavour, that could be much better than it is, Chocolate Peanut Crunch.

SiS Protein20 Vanilla Chocolate High Sugar Low Protein Bar

It’s pretty common that a bar has an appealing scent. And it’s like that here. It has a pleasant smell of vanilla cheesecake, although it could be much more intensive. In spite of that, it’s tempting. Not too tough from the outside, it’s slightly more softish inside. It shouldn’t make you any problem with biting into it and chewing. However, it’s pretty chewy and distinctly tries to stick to your teeth. While eating it, a sip of water may be needed now and then.

That’s being said, let’s see what it has to offer in terms of taste.

This protein bar is sweet, thanks to milk chocolate covering, but not oversweet.

It has soya crisps underneath it that makes a nice, crunchy effect. There’s also vanilla cheesecake aroma, but it’s not too strong. And it goes along with bitter aftertaste. Not anything you’d want to have in your cheesecake, right? That’s why that taste is not too good. It’s not bad, either, but it’s nothing you would like to experience regularly.

Do we want another serving after the first one? Not actually. It’s not bad, but that bitterish addition makes it not too exciting.

A 55g bar has 212 kcal, 8.3g of fat, 22g of carbs (and only 2g of sugar) and 20g of protein. Not too bad. On the ingredients list, there’s palm fat and no other additions we wouldn’t like. Again, not too bad.

Could it be a sustainable protein bar on the go? Could be, but thanks to its bitter aftertaste and slightly too big macros it can’t.

Bitter cheesecake for the brave.

We know that not everything must be perfect. But this SiS Protein20 Vanilla Cheesecake protein bar is pretty far from being pretty good. It’s barely good and there’s a reason for that. Or a couple of them (see our table score). And also it may be the reasons that will make you skip this protein bar. So if you do, then you won’t lose anything. And save a couple of pennies too.

Will we ever go back to this protein bar? Nope. And we are quite close to putting it on our ‘to forget’ list.
