This is one of these protein bars you may like not because of its flavour. It has some other advantages. And it’s suitable for vegans.
SiS Plant20 Triple Chocolate Brownie Protein Bar is another wave of plant-based protein bars. A not long time ago, PhD introduced their SmartBar Plant protein bars on the market. Three of them, Choc Toffee Popcorn, Choc Coconut & Cashew and Choc Peanut Caramel scored pretty well. And it looks like it was some kind of an invitation for others to follow the trend. Now, SiS jumped on the plant bandwagon and released their brand new plant-based protein bars. How do they perform? Let’s find it out with the first flavour from this range in our reviews, Triple Chocolate Brownie.
It all starts pretty promisingly, as this protein bar smells really good. There’s brownie and at least two different chocolate aromas easily detectable. Along with that specific pea protein whiff too. However, it’s not too strong and the bar is inviting and appetising after all. A pretty tough on the outside, this bar turns out to be softish, crumbly and slightly dryish on the inside. Also, it’s not chewy at all and it’s somewhat sticky. But still, it’s pretty comfortable to eat and no one should have any major issues with that.
Somewhat sweetish and ‘planty’ satisfying.
All right, this protein bar won’t win any prize for the sweetest protein bar out there. However, it’s somewhat sweetish and for many, it might be a satisfying one. There are chocolate and brownie flavours effortlessly detectable. And they both are pretty nicely balanced. Of course, there’s also a touch of plant protein in it too, but it shouldn’t be too disturbing, even for non-vegans. Overall, the taste of this protein bar is not too intense, not too sweet either. But it can be a plus for many, especially those fed up with (over)sweet protein bars. Also, there’s no weird aroma or aftertaste. That’s a plus.
Do I want another serving of this SiS Plant20 protein bar after the first one? Well, it’s hard to say. It was pretty OK in its taste. And it was a nice break from all those sweetness around. But I guess one serving is perfectly fine for me.
As always, plant-based protein bars are not the best when it comes to their macros. And that’s what we’ve got here. A 64g bar delivers 264 kcal, 12.8g of fat, only 9.5g of carbs (of which 3.1g of sugar) and a rounded 20g of protein. Also, there’s as much as 15.2g of fibre too. The ingredients list is free from added sugar, palm oil or syrups. And it contains natural flavourings too. Pretty nice.
And everything would be pretty OK if this protein bar was a bit tastier. Therefore, it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go.
Pretty satisfying and plant-based protein bar. Pretty nice.
SiS, with its Plant20 Triple Chocolate Brownie Protein Bar, jumps on the plant-based protein bars bandwagon. And it does it pretty well. This protein bar smells lovely, it is pretty nice in its taste and it leaves you with not a bad experience. And it’s suitable for vegan. Not too bad.
Will I ever go back to this SiS Plant20 protein bar? Chances are for that. Especially, as a pretty good antidote for all those (over)sweet protein bars. The only thing that makes me concerned is it could be widely available, as I haven’t seen them in the brick and mortar stores available yet.
