This is a pretty tasty protein bar for vegans. And for those with fibre deficiency for the day. For others? Well, it’s just OK. And it’s actually not too surprising, as the other flavours from this range are alike.
SiS is another, after PhD with their SmartBars Plant, protein bars maker that introduced their plant-based bars on the market. We’ve already reviewed two other flavours from this range, Cookie Dough and Triple Chocolate flavours. And they both did pretty well. Now, it’s time for, most likely, the most exciting flavour of them, SiS Plant20 Dark Chocolate and Raspberry. Is it better than the rest of this plant gang?
If I had to place my order for this protein bar after its smell alone, then I’d order at least two boxes. It’s sooo tempting. It smells like a decently good composition of (what a surprise!) dark chocolate and raspberry. The good news also is there’s no aroma of pea protein in it. That’s good. A somewhat toughish on the outside, this plant-based protein bar is softish and crumbly on the inside. It means no problems with biting into it. Also, it’s not chewy at all, but it’s a bit sticky. Anyway, its texture is OK and it’s nothing you should worry about. Oh, and as it is with plant-based protein snacks, it’s pretty OK when it comes to its moistness. It’s not super moist but still, it’s easy to eat it on its own.
Oops, there’s pea protein in the taste of this protein bar too.
This Plant20 protein bar tastes not too bad. There are chocolate and raspberry flavours easily detectable in it. But, unfortunately, there’s also a pea protein aroma too. And, unfortunately (again), it affects the overall taste experience. Unless you’re in deep love with it (I’m not that much though). Also, this protein bar is not too sweet, but it’s nothing surprising regarding it’s plant-based, right? Overall, this protein snack is pretty OK in its taste. However, I’m pretty far from calling it a satisfying one. At least when we talk about the flavour of it.
Do I want another serving of this SiS Plant20 Dark Chocolate and Raspberry protein bar after the first one? Not actually. It was pretty OK in the taste, but not that much to grab another one.
When it comes to macros, they’re average. Like in every single flavour from this range. A 64g bar has 264 kcal, 12.8g of fat, only 9.5g of carbs (including 3.1g of sugar) and an OK 20g of protein. A plus? As much as 15g of fibre per bar! Pretty nice. The ingredient list contains added sugar, but there’s not much of it indeed.
Considering it’s not the tastiest protein bar (and some other minor flaws in it), it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go. Sorry.
A pretty good protein bar. With some benefits.
This SiS Plant20 Dark Chocolate and Raspberry protein bar is not the worst protein bar out there… All right, jokes aside. It’s actually pretty good protein snack. It’s not spectacular when it comes to its taste (but still OK), but it’s suitable for vegans. And for those with fibre deficiency for the day. In short, it may be a pretty helpful protein bar, after all.
Will I ever go back to this SiS Plant20 protein bar? I don’t say I won’t. However, more than to its flavour, I may come back to its fibre content. Eventually, 15g per bar is pretty much, isn’t it?
