This energy bar doesn’t make any sense. You’d be better off buying a regular banana instead of that. It’s going to be cheaper, healthier and available virtually anywhere.
Do you sometimes have a feeling that some things are made just to be made? That from a practical point of view they don’t make a sense? Like a gym shaker made of glass. Or the gym membership that cost you an arm and a leg, but you still don’t go there? Or a banana energy bar? Wait, what? Oh, yes, banana energy bars. You know, something you have to pay extra for, but it’s just an imitation of something else. Like this SiS Banana Fudge energy bar.
And that’s the story we’ve got here. It’s the same story as with Easy Body’s Banana Flavour Protein Snack. Instead of buying it paying extra, like for a ‘functional food’, you’d be better off buying a regular banana and natural yoghurt. It won’t only save you some money, but you’ll be able to buy it basically anywhere, usually just around the corner. But yeah, let’s get through this review anyway. Ugh.
What’s interesting, this fudge banana energy bar is nearly odourless.
You may smell some kind of dried fruits(?), but there’s no banana scent at all. Therefore, it’s not too appealing and rather disappointing. Quite softish on the outside and easily biteable bar is also alike inside. So there shouldn’t be any problem with eating it. Also, it’s slightly chewy and tries noticeable sticks to your teeth. So some may feel a need for a sip while eating eat and energising oneself.
When it comes to the taste of this bar, let’s make it clear. It’s not as tasty as a regular banana indeed.
First of all, this energy bar lacks a banana flavour a bit; it could be more intensive definitely. Then, there’s also a bit of bitterness in it. Thirdly, it’s not too sweet, which seems to be pretty good. But that sourish aroma is not necessary here, honestly. Overall, it’s not too bad, but again – nothing to be excited about.
Another serving after the first one? Naaah, thanks.
However, the macros of this bar are not too bad. A 40g bar has only 139 kcal, 2g of fat, 25g of carbs (which of 12g of naturally occurring sugar) and only 4.5g of protein. Not bad. But much more impressive than that is there’s no added sugar or palm fat or any syrup on the ingredients list.
Is it a reason to be proud of? Sort of. We can here only make a copy and paste an excerpt from the review of Easy Body’s Banana Flavour Protein Snack (bar). And that’s what we do:
‘Just to compare. A medium-sized banana has 105 kcal, 25g of carbs, healthy sugars and right amounts of several vitamins and minerals. They include fibre, vitamin B6, vitamin C, manganese, potassium, magnesium, folate, copper and riboflavin (vitamin B2). Add to that a small pot of yoghurt with an extra amount of protein and you’ll get a healthier, richer in taste and cheaper treat on the go.’
So here it is. This is our answer to the question: can it be the finest energy bar on the go? And it goes something like: NO. Because it doesn’t make any sense.
And again. Don’t buy it. Buy a regular banana and natural yoghurt instead.
We will keep repeating it till no end. This kind of energy snack has no sense at all. It’s not as tasty and healthy as a banana with plain yoghurt. And at the same time, it’s not available just around the corner. And it costs much more than a banana and yoghurt. What’s the sense in that then?
