If I had to describe this protein bar in one word, it surely would be ‘disappointing’. In two words? ‘Surprisingly disappointing’. In three words? It doesn’t matter. ‘This protein bar is not worth much attention’. Period. This is eight words and it perfectly sums it up.
Forget about anything else except the flavour. And if you do so, then you’ll find much better raspberry flavoured protein bars on the market. Anything with Dark Chocolate? Here’s Grenade Carb Killa, a decently good protein bar. A bit of yoghurt? PowerBar Protein Plus is decently good too. Anything else of the shape of Proteinissimo Prime? Then PhD SmartBar of this taste is the one you can’t go wrong with. And I guess there is a couple of them more out there. Proteinissimo Prime Vanilla Raspberry flavour wanted to join this top-notch squad, but it failed dramatically in its taste, unfortunately. This is how it happened.
Bitterness. A lot of bitterness. This is what you can expect from the fragrance of this protein bar. Yes, there’s a bit of raspberry and white choc aroma in it, but it’s barely detectable. That makes this bar not too exciting or tempting. Also, a pretty tough on the outside, this bar is only somewhat softish on the inside. However, it’s not too difficult to bite into it. But still, it could be a bit more comfortable in this matter. Also, a pretty chewy snack is a bit sticky too. It’s also a bit crunchy (thanks to soya crispies). And it tends to crack at the bottom (see the picture below). Anyway, it’s nearly perfectly moist and it’s good news here.
This flavour leaves a lot to be desired.
Let me put it this way: this Proteinissimo Prime bar is not too tasty. The first flavour you may detect after biting it is… bitterness. Then, after a moment, you may find it raspberry and white chocolate flavoured. But just a bit. Do not expect the explosion of flavours here, as you won’t get it. So be prepared for experiencing bitterish flavour combined with raspberry and white chocolate touch. Add to that they both are bland and not too intense and you’ll get a recipe for untasty catastrophe. And last, but not least, this protein bar is not even sweetish! Therefore, not satisfying at all too.
Do I want another serving of this Proteinissimo Prime protein bar after the first one? Not at all. What’s more, I’d rather skip my snack allowance for any given day instead of eating this one.
And I say so even considering its pretty good macros. By the way, they’re given for 100g only, so I knock off 1 pt in this department. Anyway, a 50g bar has only 185 kcal, 8.5g of fat, a decently low 14.5g of carbs (of which only 1.8g of sugar) and a so-so 15.5g of protein. Not that bad. The ingredients list is also pretty good, as there’s no added sugar, no palm oil, no syrups. And even if I wanted to give it a thumb up here, it wouldn’t change anything as a whole.
All of that because a poor flavour makes this protein bar not suitable for the title of the finest protein bar on the go.
Primarily, this is not a good protein bar.
Scitec Nutrition Proteinissimo Prime Vanilla Raspberry flavour protein bar is not a good protein bar. It doesn’t smell good, it doesn’t taste good and that’s it. These two issues are enough for me to say ‘no, thanks’ and walk away from it. Primarily, there is at least a couple of other protein bars much better than that. Maybe they’re not as lean as this one, but who wants to sacrifice the taste of their protein snacks for a couple of calories less?
Will I ever go back to this Proteinissimo Prime protein bar? There are no chances for that. For the reasons I mentioned just above. Sorry.
