Chocolate and peanut is a winning combination. Yet, I didn’t come away after eating this bar feeling like I’d won. I don’t even feel too satisfied. It was okay and that’s about it.
Hello Rock Bar, nice to meet you. I am so excited! I was hoping you would taste as good as a Snickers. Yet, I think I’d rather have eaten a Snickers instead! Especially considering the macros are as high as they are, we will talk about these later! I am keen to try their other flavours, but I might not get my hopes up as much next time!
Initially, I had a delicious smell of roasted peanuts hitting my nostrils, but this soon vanished. I was then left with the smell of chocolate, which doesn’t actually smell too much of chocolate. It’s hard on the outside, yet soft and chewy on the inside, which I really enjoy. I would go as far as saying it’s quite sticky too, as there is a lovely thick layer of caramel.
Less satisfying than a Snickers bar, yet more protein. It’s a catch 22!
I was promised crunchy peanuts, yet they were so chopped up that I feel I didn’t even eat that many in the whole bar. This would have been so much better if they left their peanuts whole or halved so that you could taste them throughout the entire bar. Sometimes I was left wondering whether they’d included them at all! I wouldn’t go as far as saying there is an aftertaste, but I would mention that the chocolate doesn’t taste too original, which sort of loses the naughtiness of the bar. They do have a lovely thick layer of caramel, which compliments the bar well. Overall, it’s comfortable to eat and satisfying, but I still think I’d rather have just eaten a Snickers, as I know I’d have loved that a lot more.
I’m basing this purely on macros as this bar is pretty calorific, I wouldn’t eat another Rock Bar Chocolate, Caramel and Crunchy Peanut protein bar after this one.
I think the macros and ingredients in this protein bar are what let it down quite massively. I understand that chocolate bars are quite calorific, but I wouldn’t spend this many calories on a protein bar normally. Not unless it was worth it, which I don’t think it is. A 64g Rock Bar contains 270kcal, 12g fat, 23g carbs (of which a really low 3g sugar) and 20g protein. Personally, I wouldn’t eat a protein bar with these high calories unless I was in love with it. I will praise them on their super low sugar content as 3g is impressive! Their ingredients, unfortunately, aren’t too great either, as although they contain natural ingredients, this is outweighed by their inclusion of added sugars and palm oil!
Not bad, not great. Just not as impressive as I’d hoped it to be!
I didn’t dislike this Rock Bar Chocolate, Caramel and Crunchy Peanut protein bar as a whole. But there are some elements I wasn’t too keen on. Their macros aren’t great and I don’t think there are enough peanuts in it, considering it’s a peanut bar. However, their caramel layer is nice and thick. And their sugar content is low. Not a poor bar, just average.
Would I eat this protein bar again? I wouldn’t say never, but it definitely wouldn’t be the first bar I’d choose if I was out and needed to grab a bar quickly.
