Dry and bland with an artificial taste left behind. This definitely isn’t worth swapping a meal for!
This is another RedCon1 protein bar I have reviewed and I hate to say it’s just as disappointing as the first! Being advertised as a meal replacement, in my opinion, isn’t healthy as you shouldn’t skip meals and eat protein bars instead. However, if you do find yourself needing a quick, substantial bar when out and about, at least make sure it’s a tasty one. Basically, what I’m trying to say is just avoid this bar!
If you were to need something to use as a weapon at some point in your life, this bar might come in handy; it’s pretty solid. However, that texture does become a lot softer on the inside, but ‘soft’ doesn’t mean ‘moist’. This bar is far from being moist! This Redcon1 Sprinkled Donut protein bar is far from chewy and instead actually manages to be quite powdery. I’m not too sure if the white chocolate coating is where the powdery texture is coming from, but either way, it’s not something I enjoyed being in my mouth!
Somehow this bar manages to be powdery and not in the powdered sugar donut form we all enjoy!
I was really hoping I would get flavours of sweet, sugary donuts and feel like I was eating something naughty. Well, that was so far from it! This Redcon1 Sprinkled Donut protein bar tastes dry, powdery, bland and leaves almost a bitty taste in your mouth like crumbs are hiding everywhere! I wouldn’t pass this protein bar as being comfortable to eat and I definitely wouldn’t swap having a delicious and tasty meal for it! For me, RedCon1 have their texture all wrong, just like their Crunchy Peanut Butter Cup protein bar they’ve added rolled oats to an already extremely dry bar. Shall I tell you what these oats do to this bar? Well, they make it even dryer in your mouth!
Sorry RedCon1, I wouldn’t be able to eat another of these bars after this one (considering I didn’t thoroughly enjoy a single mouthful of this one)!
I don’t even think the macros can save this bar. The calories are high and the ingredients are far from great. This RedCon1 bar weighs in heavier than your average bar. A 67g bar contains 260kcal, 9g fat, 29g carbs (of which 6g sugar) and a decent 20g protein. If I was swapping a meal for this bar as they state you can, I would want something much better! Add that to the Ace K, palm oil and added sugars I found in the ingredients and we aren’t onto a winner!
I think I’d rather have a protein shake than eat this bar, and I don’t like protein shakes!
Tough, dry and bland. This Redcon1 MRE BAR Crunchy Sprinkled Donut protein bar isn’t something I’d recommend. And in fact, is something I’d tell you all to avoid wasting your money on! What was good about this bar? I honestly can’t think of anything!
Will I be buying another RedCon1 bar of this flavour again? Not for me. Sorry, RedCon1!
