This is a decently good mint protein bar. The thing is, however, this is a mint chocolate chunk bar. In other words, it lacks chocolate chunk flavour. And this was the reason it’s only good, not a very good Quest protein bar.
This is a bit awkward. There are many flavours of the Quest protein bar, but so far we reviewed just a couple of them. The reason for that is only one of them turned out to be overall barely good. Other, well, I’d better leave it like that. Anyway, have a look at that for yourself as this Quest protein bar Mint Chocolate Chunk flavour was exceptionally good and pretty tasty. And it was a massive surprise to me. Seriously.
It didn’t start good, as always. This protein bar is so sticky it was a challenge to unwrap it. And I really didn’t like it. Anyway, it has a pretty lovely aroma of mint (loads of it) and chocolate (much less of it). They both are not well balanced, but they are pretty intensive. And still, somewhat inviting. A softish on the outside, this protein bar is alike on the inside. That means no problem with biting into it. However, it’s noticeably chewy, but not too sticky. And somewhat moist. In a word, not too bad in its texture (except while unwrapping it).
Not too bad, not exceptional in taste.
And that’s actually a big surprise, as many Quest protein bars have that disgusting alcoholic flavour. But not here. This bar, for a change, has a pleasant minty flavour. However, there’s not much chocolate flavour in it. So it’s not perfect for sure. Also, there’s a barely, just a hardly detectable bitterish aroma in it, but many may don’t care about it at all. Or even don’t detect or taste it. Eventually, there’s no weird aroma or aftertaste in this bar. At the end of the day, this protein bar is obviously not too sweet. But, for a change, it can’t be a satisfying one.
Do I want another serving of this Quest Chocolate Mint protein bar right after the first one? It was so close to say so. However, I missed a chocolate flavour in it.
When it comes to macros, it’s perfect, as always. A 60g bar (that weighs a bit less, actually) delivers 200 kcal, 8g of fat, 22g of carbs (of which only 1g of sugar) and 20g of protein. And as much as 16g of fibre. The ingredients list is not too short and it doesn’t contain added sugar, palm fat or syrups. Well done!
However, considering it could be much tastier, it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go.
Not bad for sure, but there’s still some room for improvement.
What I know for sure, this Quest Protein Bar Mint Chocolate Chunk Flavour is the best one we’ve reviewed so far. It’s pretty tasty (but not perfect), it has very good ingredients and really good macros. Is it perfect, then? Nearly. But I wouldn’t make an affair here. Hence, if you like a mint flavoured protein bar, then it’s pretty OK to give this one a try.
Will I ever go back to this Quest protein bar? I don’t say no. And considering this flavour is a bit tricky to compose it correctly, it’s still pretty good to go back to it now and then.
