This is the natural energy bar for those looking for some non-sweet energy. It’s refreshing, tasty and… lacking a bit of sweetness. But still, an excellent antidote for all those (over)sweet bars full of sugar. And empty of enjoyment.

If you’re still not sure about it, we tell you this for sure: it’s not simple to make a good energy bar. It’s not all about macros. Or ingredients. Taste still does matter here. It looks like PowerBar with its RideEnergy Peanut Caramel Flavour still doesn’t know about that. In contrary to Veloforte, that do the job well with their CLASSICO Citrus Energy Bar. How about this PowerBar vegan energy bar, then? Not too bad, but it’s not perfect either.

PowerBar Natural Energy Cereal Bar Sweet’n Salty Energy Bar

PowerBar Sweet’n’Salty Natural Energy Cereal Bar has a nice and pleasant scent. There are cereals and pretzels in it, but it’s not that easy to find sweetness though. We are not sure we were able to do that. Besides that, the aroma of this bar is delightful and inviting, making us want to bite into it. A bit tough from the outside, this bar is not too comfortable to bite into it. It’s not too hard either, but some may find a need to use their teeth. Anyway, once you do that, it’s really OK to chew. And although it’s noticeable chewy and slightly sticks to your teeth, it’s still not bad in these aspects. What we can say for sure, it definitely doesn’t take the pleasure of eating too far away.

When it comes to taste, it’s not bad. We’d say it’s pretty good.

However, pleasant and slightly salted taste lacks a bit of sweetness, that would give this bar a real flavourish kick. You know, the one that Grenade Cark Killa White Chocolate Salted Peanut High Protein Bar has. Anyway, it’s still pleasant and satisfyingly refreshing. The taste itself is not strong, neither heavy, but easily detectable. It seems to float on the surface, making the bar light, but also kind of bracing. We would call it an antidote from all those (over)sweet and heavy-weight in taste and texture energy bars out there.

Do we want another serving of this PowerBar vegan energy bar after the first one? It was pretty tasty and refreshing, indeed. But what we missed is that a touch of sweetness.

Is this a real, energising energy bar? A quick look at its macros and we can see not the best numbers. A 40g bar has only 155 kcal, 4.2g of fat, 24g of carbs (of which 6.1g of sugar) and 4.1g of protein. In short: it could have more energy and carbs, but less fat and protein. On the ingredients list there’s palm fat, so again, there’s still some room for improvement.

Therefore, it can’t be considered the finest energy bar on the go. But it doesn’t mean it can’t be a tasty energy bar though.

A refreshing energy bar with a bit of nature in it.

This is the bar we’d like to eat more often. As a great antidote from all those (over)sweet bars out there. The only thing we’d want to see here is a bit of sweetness. It’d make it an exceptionally tasty energy bar. It’s nothing like that here, but we still believe it’s one of the most delicious energy bar on the market. Not bad, PowerBar, not too bad.

Will we ever go back to this energy bar? If we’re in need of energy bar and we’re fed up with sweetness, then yes. Then this is going to be one of the first energy bar we’ll think about.

And if I’d want to have another vegan Salted Caramel energy bar, then I will go for this one from TRIBE.
