Happy Birthday to… Ahem… Even if I wanted to sing that song, there wouldn’t be any particular reason for that here. All of that, because this protein bar isn’t anything worth celebrating.

There’s only one Birthday Cake flavour protein snack we reviewed so far that scored a pretty solid nearly 7/10 pts — the one from Grenade. Also, there were two, from ASDA and Sinister Labs, that scored less than 5/10 pts. So as you can see, not every Birthday (anything) is good enough. And not every Birthday (anything) is worth celebrating. Anyway, let’s have a look at this PhD SmartBar Birthday Cake protein bar.

This Birthday Cake bar smells not too bad. Its fragrance is sweet and pleasant, but it lacks its intensity. Anyway, it’s inviting. A somewhat toughish on the outside, this protein bar is pretty softish inside. Therefore, there should be no problem with biting into it. However, it’s noticeable chewy and sticky. But still, there’s nothing to be worried about. Also, some may be able to eat it without a sip, but it might be not a rule for many.

Not much worth celebrating.

All right. This Birthday Cake flavour bar is not bad. It tastes like a birthday cake – it’s sweet and pretty tasty. However, it’s a bit sourish too. And I mean a bit too much. And it’s not too good. Despite that, its flavour is somewhat tasty, but not too lovely. It will make its way as a sweet protein snack. However, I didn’t feel it satisfying in any way.

Do I want another serving of this PhD SmartBar Birthday Cake protein bar after the first one? Not actually. It was pretty OK, somewhat tasty, but not too satisfying.

When it comes to macros, it’s not too spectacular. As always with PhD SmartBars. A 64g bar has 236 kcal, 10g of fat, 24g of carbs (including only 2.2g of sugar) and 20g of protein. It’s OK. The ingredients list doesn’t contain added sugar, palm oil or syrups. And it has some natural flavourings too. Pretty nice.

Anyway, it’s still not enough to give it a title of the finest protein bar on the go.

Let’s try to celebrate it!

PhD SmartBar Birthday Cake High Protein Low Sugar Bar

PhD SmartBar Birthday Cake protein bar is not the most exciting birthday cake out there. It’s tasty, but at the same time, it’s significantly sourish. It has not perfect macros, but its ingredients list is pretty good. And the only thing is it’s not that bad, but I expected a bit more due to Birthday (Cake).

Will I ever go back to this protein bar? Not actually. It’s not that bad, but as a gift for (my) Birthday, I’d like it to be tastier a bit.
