If I had to eat only one Peanut Butter flavoured protein bar, it would be this one. And I would order three boxes of it straight away.
If it only was just a bit, just slightly less salty.
This is absolutely crazy! We were contacted by OWN Your Hunger protein bar maker and asked about our opinion of their NOT YET RELEASED (or as you prefer Beta Version) Peanut Butter flavour protein bar. So we did it here and we wrote its review – without a final score – a while ago. Back then, this protein bar was brilliant, hitting the jackpot with an overall score of 8.7/10 pts. In other words, it turned out to be an exceptional, a fantastic protein bar. Now, it’s time to have a look at the nearly final release of OWN Your Hunger Peanut Butter protein bar. Still, just about to be launched. And this is what it’s like
(spoiler: it’s not as good as it was in beta version, unfortunately. Keep on reading to find out why).
The smell. Or should I say THE SMELL?! It’s brilliant. Its aroma is exactly the same as tasty peanut butter. It’s aromatic, extremely flavourish and I couldn’t wait to bite into it. Do I need to say it’s incredibly tempting and inviting? Because it is. Anyway, it’s pretty effortless to bite into it, as the bar itself is relatively softish both on the outside and inside. Also, it’s pretty OK when it comes to its moistness. However, it’s not perfect (hence, there’s still a small room for improvement here). Also, it’s barely, virtually not chewy and sticky. All right, let’s don’t wait longer and dive into this beauty right now!
This protein bar tastes terrific. Like real peanut butter.
With one pinch of salt too much.
This protein bar is genius. Genius in its taste. It tastes like a
pretty slightly salty real peanut butter (by the way, did you know there’s real peanut butter in the ingredients?). And for me, it’s slightly, just a little bit too salty at this stage. On the other hand, Kaz says that this salty version is on the spot. Also, it’s slightly and enjoyable crunchy thanks to protein crisps (fortunately, they don’t stick to your teeth). Moreover, there’s no weird aroma or aftertaste. And, as you can imagine, it’s not sweet. However, it’s definitely a satisfying protein bar (which adds 0.5 pt to the score in this criterion).
Still, please keep in mind the very, very final version of this OWN bar will have less salt in it. Actually, it’s going to be as not-too-salty as the beta version was. In other words, perfect.
Do I want another serving of this OWN Your Hunger protein bar right after the first one? With a saltiness on a par with the beta version, I’ll say ‘can I have two more, please?’.
From the macros point of view, it’s really good. A single 60g bar has 210 kcal, 8g of fat, 23g of carbs (of which only 1g of sugar – the packaging you can see shows the amount of sugar of the beta version) and a rounded 20g of protein. Also, there’s as much as 19g(!) of fibre. Nice. The ingredients list is pretty short and all-natural. Therefore, it hits max points here. Plus, it’s keto-friendly, which adds 0.2 pt to the final score (our updated scoring criteria will be up soon!).
Can it be the finest protein bar on the go? It was so close and there was only one reason why it can’t be. Its texture. To get the title, it should be just a bit softer. Sorry.
A genuinely excellent protein bar that is supposed to keep you full longer.
With a bit too much of salt.
That’s amazing. This is what I would describe this OWN Your Hunger Organic Peanut Butter Protein Bar. It tastes lovely and marvellous. It’s pretty comfortable to eat. And it has great ingredients. Now, I’m waiting for the very, very final version of it. Anyway, it’s going to be a tough job to stick to just only one serving of this protein bar. You were warned.
Will I ever go back to this OWN Your Hunger protein bar? Let me put it this way: once it’s finally launched (which is going to happen in January 2020!), I’m going to order at least(!) two boxes of it! Why only two? Because there are two other flavours to be reviewed yet – Organic Chocolate and Organic Coconut (stay tuned for them!). And I hope them to be at least as good as this Organic Peanut Butter flavoured one. So I could order them too.
P.S. You may ask why the flavour (and the recipe) of supposedly the final version it’s going to be changed or reversed? Well, that’s what we – Protein, Fitness and More – suggested the maker of it. And this is what we were promised to be done at the very last stage of designing of this protein bar. That’s nice!
P.S. There’s also a Chocolate flavour in this range that might be your next go-to protein bar of this flavour.
