An obvious cherry flavour, which turns artificial in your mouth. I was hoping for a lot more, yet I’m left feeling empty and disappointed!
This is another OLIMP protein bar which I’ve reviewed and I’m not sure it’s one I want to go running back to, again! Considering the size of this OLIMP Cherry Heaven protein bar, it looks impressive, but looks can be deceiving, right? Honestly, not only do I think this bar isn’t great, but I also don’t love the wrapper. I found it so difficult to read and find the information I was looking for. And that’s with 20/20 vision!
As for the smell, this OLIMP bar has hit it pretty good. It surely has a strong smell of cherry leaving this bar. As for how artificial you may think it comes across, you’ll have to be the judge of that. Seen as I’m the judge, in this case, I think it’s okay – but it’s definitely a strong, sweet smell. The exterior is quite solid due to the nice layer of crispies under the white chocolate coating. For a change, the interior of the bar is nice and soft, with a pretty chewy and crunchy consistency. Sounds nice right? Well, that’s because we haven’t got onto the flavour yet.
Overpoweringly sweet and somewhat artificial. It’s a shame the bar looks as pretty as it does! Very misleading for the taste buds!
I’m not going to lie to you, with the first mouthful I was looking forward to finishing this bar. However, the more I ate, the more I grew to dislike it! It’s far too oversweet, which eventually turns into an artificial taste in your mouth. This is a shame because their texture and the crispy pieces actually complement the bar really well, they just have their Cherry Heaven flavour all wrong! Although it’s not a hideous sucralose flavour left in my mouth like some bars, it is a definite coating of something which I’m not too keen on. It’s pretty easy to get rid of with water, but that isn’t the aim of the game, right? We’re meant to enjoy our food and wish it never ends. However, I found myself counting down the mouthfuls I had left until it was over! This protein bar did start off comfortable to eat with the first two mouthfuls, but then it turned into something I wasn’t looking forward to finishing.
It wasn’t the worst thing I’ve eaten that’s for sure, but that being said, I still wouldn’t eat another OLIMP Cherry Heaven protein bar after this one.
If you manage to work your way around the wrapper and read the text on it, you’ll eventually come across the macros and ingredients! Weighing a decent 64g this bar’s macros are pretty good considering. A 64g serving contains 236kcal, 11g fat, 19 carbs (of which a little 2.1g sugars) and a decent 19g protein. Their ingredients are also pretty impressive, as it contains natural flavours and none of the ingredients we hate (like Ace K, palm oil, added sugars and syrups)!
Although this protein bar is attractive to look at, don’t be fooled by the flavour!
This OLIMP Cherry Heaven protein bar started off promising, but soon became a chore to eat. Its texture is delicious, but its flavour is seriously lacking. Oversweet cherry, which eventually turns artificial isn’t a great selling point! However, the macros do work well in this bar and their ingredients are also very good. Shame they just didn’t get the flavour right!
Would I eat another OLIMP Cherry Heaven protein bar again? Sorry, not for me. I’d definitely look at it again as it’s very aesthetically pleasing, but I wouldn’t want another to pass my lips!
