It was supposed to be a healthy alternative to Bounty bar. But it’s pretty far from being it. Rather than that, I’ll grab a regular Bounty bar. And I’ll do my best to fit it into my macros for the day.
There are tasty coconut flavour protein bars out there, like… Tasty Bars Designer Bar Coconut. Or RXBAR Coconut Chocolate bar. Or Weider 21% Protein Coconut bar. And so on. All of them can be a not that bad alternative to Bounty bar. And there’s Nutramino Protein Bar Sweet Coconut flavour protein bar. And if I had a choice between this one and Bounty bar, then I’d pick Bounty bar for sure.
The smell? There’s nearly no difference between this one and Bounty bar. Seriously. This one has a pleasant aroma of coconut and (a bit less of) chocolate. It could be a bit more of latter, but still, it’s appetising and inviting. A fairly softish on the outside, this protein bar is soft on the inside. It’s easy to bite into for sure. A middling chewy and slightly sticky bar is pretty moist. Therefore, no worries if the only thing you have at hand is this bar (no sip necessary with it).
This Nutramino bar is not quite like a Bounty bar. Not even an enjoyable alternative to that.
This Nutramino Protein Bar tastes just OK. There is coconut flavour easily detectable and it’s nearly pretty sweet and tasty. However, I’d say it’s a bit, just a bit bitterish. There’s also some chocolate flavour, but it’s not enough of it. That makes this protein bar not too sweet, it’s just sweetish. Also, slightly bitterish coconut affects the overall experience, as this bar is simply flat in its taste. It lacks that sweet and tasty coconut and chocolate kick. Too bad, as it makes this bar either not too sweet, not satisfying.
Do I want another serving of this Nutramino Protein Bar after the first one? Not actually. It wasn’t bad, for sure, but it was unsatisfying for sure.
When it comes to macros, it’s not too spectacular. The bar itself is not too big as it only weighs 49g. It delivers 215 kcal, 10g of fat, 16g of carbs (and as much as 11g of sugar) and 15g of protein. Well, it could be better for sure. The ingredients list? Ehm, there’s added sugar, glucose syrup and sugar syrup on it. Pfff, not too healthy, isn’t it?
And these are a couple of reasons it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go.
This sweet coconut bar is nearly as good as Bounty. I almost fall for it.
If you’re looking an alternative to Bounty bar, then this is the wrong address. This Nutramino Protein Bar Sweet Coconut flavour bar is not as tasty as a Bounty bar. Yep, it has better macros than that, but sometimes numbers don’t matter at all. Therefore, feel free to skip it and grab a Bounty bar if you’re fancy coconut and chocolate flavour.
Will I ever go back to this Nutramino Protein Bar? Not actually. It’s not too tasty. And it has inferior ingredients. And if I had to turn a blind eye to the latter, I’d go for original Bounty bar. It’s not better in numbers, but it’s much better in taste for sure.
