Interesting and decently sweet flavour in theory. But only acceptable in this matter in practice. This is what this protein bar is. And it’s nothing I would want to keep in my cupboard.
Pretty mixed. This is what a NEW maxi muscle Promax Lean Protein Bar range turned out to be so far. The best one, Cookies & Cream, scored overall 7.0/10 pts with 7.5/10 pts for flavour. Not too bad. On the other hand, Rocky Road flavour was not so spectacular, landing at 6.2/10 pts overall and 6.5/10 pts for flavour. Another flavour from this range, Banoffee, sits somewhere in-between, which means… Well, all it means it’s not an exceptional one. That happens.
Same old story. The smell of this bar is pretty nice and lovely, offering an easily detectable aroma of banana and caramel. It’s not too intense, but still inviting. Going further, it’s not too bad when it comes to its texture. It’s pretty soft on the outside, but it’s only softish on the inside. The reason for that is the top of this bar which is soft, but its interior is a bit tougher. That combination makes this bar not too effortless to bite into. Add to that it’s pretty chewy and a bit sticky. And the fact it’s not perfectly moist. Then you will get a bar that could be easier and more jaw-friendly. It’s not too bad, for sure, but again – it’s a bit far from being effortlessly and pleasantly enjoyable.
A decently sweet first, a bland and just OK-ish after that.
The flavour of this maxi muscle protein bar changes while eating it. Firstly, it seems to be a decently sweet and tasty bar with both flavours, banana and caramel, easily detectable. In a word, lovely delicious. However, with every consecutive bite, it changes for worse. It’s getting less and less sweet, becoming a bland one. Still, somewhat sweetish, but also annoyingly bland. As a result of that, this protein bar leaves you with not many emotions and feeling of eating something not too spectacular in taste. At the end of the day, it means it’s not a satisfying protein bar. Too bad.
Am I fancy another serving of this Promax Lean protein bar right after the first one? I’m not. It wasn’t too effortless to eat and it was not a satisfying and fulfilling one.
Macros wise it’s a pretty nice protein snack. A 55g bar only has 185 kcal, 5.5g of fat, 14g of carbs (of which 1.6g of sugar) and 20g of protein. Also, there’s 6.9g of fibre. So yes, it’s pretty Lean. However, the ingredients list is sooo looong and it contains palm oil.
Therefore, it can’t be the finest protein bar on the go. Sorry.
Pretty lean in macros, pretty disappointing taste.
This is not what I expected looking at this NEW maxi muscle Promax Lean Protein Bar Banoffee Flavour. It might be new from the name. But it’s not too new for me when it comes to the experience of it. It’s not overly tasty, it’s not too comfortable to eat, and it could have a much shorter ingredients list. The good thing in this protein bar is, however, it’s pretty Lean in macros, only having 185 kcal. Nice.
Will I ever go back to this NEW maxi muscle protein bar? I will NOT. For the reasons I mentioned above. It could be much better in taste and more comfortable to eat for sure.
