This is an excellent deal-maker for Cookies & Cream lovers. I’ll give you this protein bar from MyProtein, and you’ll give me three Oreo biscuits instead. Do we have a deal then?
‘6 layers of heaven! Treat without the cheat!’ – that’s what MyProtein says. And it sounds at a very low ebb. But that’s OK, as there’s a chance to challenge it. Anyway, I recently did that with another taste from this range. And it turned out it has not 6, but 8 layers in fact. To find out more about it just read our honest review of 6 Layer Bar Birthday Cake flavour. In the meantime let’s have a look at this 6 Layer Bar Cookies & Cream from MyProtein.
By the way, this is very first of our review that was requested by one of our readers. So if you want us to have a closer look at a specific protein snack, then feel free to give us a shout!
Coming back to the 6 Layer Bar, it is nearly odourless. Yes, I know… Ok, there’s a barely detectable sweet scent that resembles Cookies & Cream. But, for 200%, it’s nothing to be appealing or inviting. Can you imagine that? Cookies and creams that are not inviting? What a shocker! Anyway, this treat is pleasantly soft both from the outside and inside. Therefore, no problem with biting into it or chewing. Also, what is a pleasant surprise here, this bar is not chewy and hardly sticks to the teeth. That being said, it’s a fair bet that no sip may be needed while eating it. At least for some.
Anyway, rather than being satisfyingly sweet, this MyProtein bar are only moderately sweet.
There’s a bit of Cookies & Cream flavour in it, but it’s way too weak. Also, there’s an easily detectable bitterish aroma that makes that experience not too pleasant. And last, but not least, that bitterish aftertaste that leaves in your mouth for a while after the last bite. It’s not anywhere close to the hell, but it’s still far, far away from heaven. So instead of heaven in your mouth, you get something like
Do I want another serving after the first one? Well, to be honest. If I knew what it’s like, I’d swap it for three Oreo biscuits for sure. And they not only would be much tastier, but also less caloric. Win-win.
For this reason, I should write about Oreo biscuit macros instead (it’s roughly 70 kcal, by the way), but… All right, I’m joking. A 6 Layer bar from MyProtein has 256 kcal, 9.1g of fat, 18.9g of carbs (including 2.8g of sugar) and 20.5g of protein. Still, more than three Oreo biscuits. The ingredients list is nothing worth mentioning. However, let me do that, as there are added sugar, palm oil and invert sugar syrup. No comment.
Did someone consider it the finest protein bar on the go? Nice try…
Where’s that heaven? It’s rather 6 layers of purgatory, the most.
To sum up. There are 6 Layers of MyProtein Bar Cookies & Cream. And an extra two layers of disappointment and unfulfillment we already experienced with Birthday Cake flavour. Well, it’s even hard to describe it more precisely, as it’s definitely not Cookies & Cream flavour we know. It’s also nothing satisfyingly sweet, not telling about being fulfilling. And that bitter in the taste. Many, many things went pretty wrong right here. And if you’re wondering if you should give it a try, this is my advice: skip it and get three Oreo biscuits instead. And I reassure you, it’s going to be a much better experience than this one.
Will I ever go back to this protein bar? There are no chances for that. There are the borders that Cookies & Cream lovers won’t pass at any price. And this is one of them.
P.S. If you want a better flavour from this range then go straight to our review of Chocolate Sundae flavour that scored a decent 6.8/19 pts.
