Dry, bitter and unpleasant. I think I’d rather use this bar as a doorstop!
This is the second MP protein bar to be reviewed and sadly, it’s still really isn’t off to a great start! Looking at this bar, I was hoping this would be a cereal bar packed with protein. However, I wish I just ate a normal cereal bar, as I’d have enjoyed it a lot more! The only good element on the wrapper is that they advertise they are gluten-free. This is really handy if you have to find a Peanut Butter protein bar quickly amongst them all on the market.
I’m not sure how something which should smell of crispies and peanut butter can smell so horrible! There is the very, very slightest smell of peanut butter and to be honest, it really isn’t worth mentioning. Now, the outside, as expected, is excellent, but I was hoping the inner firmness would be less solid. Unfortunately, it’s just as hard, literally like a brick! In no way is this bar sticky. Instead, it’s dry, dry and dry a little more!
Dry, sturdy and robust protein bar. Not something I’d want to pay money for!
If I was blindfolded and had to guess the flavour, I’d guess sweetener. I think that shows just how artificial this bar tastes! Considering it’s meant to be peanut butter, it really takes a back seat and instead, the sucralose comes through nicely. Unfortunately, this isn’t a flavour I want and I especially don’t want it lingering in my mouth like it still is! In no way is this bar comfortable to eat, not with the sweetener flavour and its dry texture!
Sorry MusclePharm, there is no way I’d be able to eat another of these bars straight after this one. To be honest, I wouldn’t want to eat another one again!
Although this bar weighs less than most on the market, it doesn’t actually feel that small! A 45g MusclePharm Crispy Peanut Butter protein bar contains 170kcal, 5g fat, 17g carbs (of which 6g sugars) and 16g protein. Personally, for the size of the bar, I think the macros could be a lot better. Not to mention their ingredients could be better too! Palm oil and added sugars are part of their ingredients! However, they have used natural flavours, but that doesn’t make this earn brownie points!
Even with its low calories, I’d still rather eat something I enjoy than this dry, crunchy block!
Considering this is the second MP (MusclePharm) protein bar to be reviewed, it doesn’t make me want to consume the others! It’s dry, oversweet, bitter and artificial; everything I avoid in a protein bar! Not to mention it’s poor ingredients and mediocre macros, this isn’t something I’d suggest you wasting your money on, sorry MusclePharm!
Would I eat another MP Crisp Peanut Butter protein bar again? Not a chance! I still have a horrible coating of sweeteners around my mouth and it’s not something I enjoy!
