Sorry, Mr Joe. Wrong address. I know what a good… oh, well… what a great Rocky Road snack should taste like. And you’re not much close to that. And the thing you’re decently crumbly doesn’t make it easier at all.
I’m afraid there’s nothing better than a homemade Rocky Road treat. You know, the one with full of fat and chocolate. And some additions, like marshmallows, digestives etc. And peanut butter too. Because, why not? Anyway, getting to the point, I can’t see any reason to indulge in this Mountain’s Joe Rocky Road High Protein Reduced Sugar Peanut Butter Bar. Because there’s nothing to indulge in it. Sorry, Joe.
Rocky Road flavour with a bitterish aroma in it? Well, I don’t think so. But this is what we’ve got here. Yep, there’s also a touch of peanut butter, but that combination is not impressive after all. A really tough on the outside, this protein bar turns out to be really crispy. Hence, I do not recommend to eat it near your keyboard. Anyway, it’s also not too comfortable to bite into it. But once you do that, it should be pretty easy to manage it. Also, although the bar seems to be decently crumbly, it’s not too dry (surprise). Still, its texture is not crème de la crème.

Call me a greenhorn when it comes to protein bars, but I can’t see anything exciting in the flavour of this protein bar. The taste of this protein bar is way too bland to make any expression. It resembles a Rocky Road flavour, but it’s not that – it’s not too intensive either flavourish. How about Peanut Butter? Well, not much of it here, again. Sweetness? Limited, but still – it could be a bit sweeter. So as you can see, there are too many flaws in the flavour of this bar alone. Oh, and it’s not a satisfying protein bar, after all. Poor Joe.
When it comes to macros, it seems to be better than a traditional Rocky Road snack. A 55g bar has 241 kcal, 13g of fat, 21g of carbs (including 4,2g of sugar) and an OK-ish 15g of protein. The ingredients list is pretty similar to the regular snack of this kind. However, I’m not too sure a homemade one along with added sugar contains glucose syrup and palm oil.

Mountain’s Joe Rocky Road High Protein Reduced Sugar Peanut Butter Bar. Sorry, mate. This is not anything I’d want to buy again. The texture, the taste and ingredients – all of them could be much, much better then they are. And this is the reason it’s not worth to indulge in it. Because chances are we define indulging in a pretty different way.
Will I ever go back to this Mountain Joe’s Rocky Road bar? Nope. Just nope.
