This is the tastiest protein bar out of LIDL’s protein trio. However, it doesn’t mean you should rush for it. Despite its advantages and the cost of only 93p per bar, I’m not too sure I’ll go back to it.

Cookies & Cream, Chocolate Brownie and now Vanilla & Yogurt. This is the trio of protein bars from LIDL. And although it’s being sold in 3-packs for only £2.79 (which gives 93p per bar), it’s still anything you should consider buying. Unless 22.5g protein in less than 200kcal snack of any kind is your priority. Mine’s not. Anyway, LIDL High Protein Bar Vanilla & Yogurt proves you can’t have a tasty and delicious protein snack for less.

It’s some kind of surprise that this protein bar is not repelling in its smell. It doesn’t automatically (or automagically) means it’s lovely in that. There’s still a whey-ish and bitterish aroma easily detectable in this bar, but, for a change, there’s a bit of theme scent in it, too. Anyway, the texture of this bar is the best out of the LIDL’s trio. It’s pretty easy to bite into it and there’s no problem with eating it. The bar is just a bit chewy and not much sticky. And it’s moistness is OK. So no worry, you don’t need sipping while eating eat.

It looks like it’s the best flavour LIDL can do.

The taste of this Vanilla & Yogurt bar is the best out of the LIDL’s trio. There’s not that little of the vanilla flavour in it. But still, it’s not perfect. You can easily notice there’s way too much of it, making vanilla aroma bitterish. Also, there’s not much yogurt anything here. Add to that bitterish and whey-ish taste and aftertaste and you get something pretty close to flavour disaster. The bar itself is barely sweet-ish, but it doesn’t make it satisfying in any way, obviously.

Would I want to eat two of these protein bars in one sitting? I definitely wouldn’t. It has nothing to do with flavour or pleasant at all.

LIDL High Protein Bar Vanilla & Yogurt

Macros wise, it’s pretty good here, as always. Although the bar is pretty small – it only weighs 45g – it contains 194kcal, 22.5g protein (50%) and only 0.9g sugar. Not too bad. Too bad it also contains palm oil in the ingredients.

This is the best option from the entire range.

But it still doesn’t mean it’s good. From the experience point of view, I mean flavour and satisfying from eating, this LIDL High Protein Bar Vanilla & Yogurt is pretty poor. And having less than 200kcal and as much as 22.5g protein won’t change here much. That means you shouldn’t worry about it if you do care about anything else than protein content in a protein bar.

Will I ever go back to this protein bar? There are no chances for that. It’s cheap and it has as much as 22.5g protein, but it’s still not enough to call it a desirable protein bar.
