It’s not too exploding. Not too entertaining. And a bit too heavy in macros. This is Grenade Protein Flapjack Chocolate Orange flavour, the very first protein flapjack from Grenade in our reviews.
We haven’t had any protein flapjack from Grenade in our reviews. And that’s why this is a good reason to start reviewing them right now. And as Grenade protein bars are not too bad (with some of them being excellent and some of them not too much), I hoped this protein flapjack to be at least pretty good. However, it wasn’t. Too bad, as there’s nothing better than eating a pretty good and tasty flapjack right after the workout, right?
Chocolate and orange is a pretty popular flavour in any kind of sweets. Yet, there are not too many flapjacks of this flavour out there. This one, judging by its smell, gives hope for being a decently tasty one. Both flavours are easily detectable here, but I wouldn’t mind them to be a bit more intense. This flapjack is pretty softish all around, so there shouldn’t be a problem with biting into it. Also, it’s somewhat chewy and sticky, but that’s OK. Still, it’s somewhat comfortable to eat and this is good news here.
A not too bad, but a bit bland taste.
The flavour of this protein flapjack from Grenade is pretty good, Both flavours, chocolate (made up from cocoa powder) and orange, are easily detectable. However, they both lack intensity. And they seem to be pretty bland. The taste of this flapjack appears to be one-dimensional, not too deep, not too flavourish. There’s also a barely detectable touch of bitterness in it. Putting all these aspects together, we get a flapjack that is not too sweet and not too satisfying. And this is not what I expect to get here.
Do I want another serving of this Grenade flapjack Chocolate Orange after the first one? Not actually. It wasn’t exceptionally tasty and this is enough reason for me to say ‘that’s it, thank you’.
When it comes to macros, this protein flapjack is not too lean. A 70g snack has a rather largish 323 kcal, 13.4g of fat, 31.4g of carbs (including 9.8g of sugar) and an OK-ish 16.1g of protein. The ingredients list contains brown sugar and golden syrup.
The taste, macros and ingredients. Only three aspects I didn’t like too much in this flapjack. But at the same time, there’s too many of them to give this flapjack a title of the finest protein flapjack on the go.
Not too explosive, not too spectacular. Throw-it-away protein
This Grenade Reload Protein Flapjack Chocolate Orange is like a grenade. Just throw it and forget about it. There’s going to be more of this kind of stuff on your way. It’s not too tasty, it’s not too lean. And it’s ingredients could be better, indeed. Therefore, no reason to stop here. Throw it and carry on.
Will I ever go back to this protein flapjack? Not actually. While having any flapjack, all I’m looking for in them is a good taste, good macros and good ingredients (at least). And this is what we won’t get here. Therefore, I throw it away and carry on.
