This tiny Bounce protein bar claims it can be your breakfast. But I’m not sure I’d give it a chance to start my day. At least not to start my day well.
At £1 (or even less) per serving, this protein bar is another one of these cheap protein bars we review. It wants to challenge them by being your breakfast. However, not everything matches here, as I could easily have a regular, ‘big’ protein bar for breakfast and be done. Like this SuperFit Protein Fresh Bar costing £1. Anyway, let’s have a look if Bounce Breakfast Peanut Butter High Fibre Protein Bar can be our breakfast at all?
And yes, it starts as good as your supposed the best day for a while. The scent of this bar is very intense. There is peanut butter easily detectable and it’s highly tempting. The texture of this bar is barely softish, both on the outside and on the inside. Also, it’s decently chewy and sticky. Therefore, it could be a bit more comfortable to eat. And that’s not what I imagine my pretty good day could be like. Oh, you’d better have a sip while eating, as it will help you to make it less troublesome to eat.
It tastes like peanut butter. And figs.
I’m not sure that the composition of these flavours is the most desirable. But it’s original for sure. There is slightly bitterish peanut butter taste easily detectable. And a bit of dried figs too. That makes this bar a bit bitterish, but still interesting when it comes to its taste. Anyway, what’s pretty obvious here, this bar is not too sweet and it’s definitely not satisfying. And that’s not what I’d expect from my breakfast. Not that all my breakfast are exciting and/or spectacular, but they are definitely not bitterish.
Do I want another serving of this Bounce peanut butter bar for my breakfast after the first one? Not actually. It was not bad, but I wouldn’t start my day with that (or that)specific and not too sweet taste.
As this bar is pretty tiny, its macros are not too beefy too. A 45g bar has only 168 kcal, 7.3g of fat, 12g of carbs (of which 8.1g of naturally occurring sugar) and a modest 9.7g of protein. Could be a bit better. The ingredients list, however, is pretty lovely and I can’t complain here. It’s pretty short and it doesn’t contain added sugar, or palm oil or any syrup. Pretty nice.
However, considering all of the above, this is not the finest protein bar on the go.
A breakfast bar I wouldn’t like to start my day with.
This Bounce Breakfast Peanut Butter protein bar wants to be your or mine breakfast bar. The thing is, however, I’m not too interested in that. It’s OK when it comes to its taste, macros or ingredients. But at the same time, it’s not too sweet or satisfying. Therefore, if I had to start my day with a protein bar (what I actually do pretty often, but shhh!), I’d rather go for this one.
Will I ever start my day with this Bounce protein bar again? I’m not sure. If it’s supposed to be a great day, I’d go for something more tasty, sweet and satisfying. If it’s supposed to be the worst day ever, then I’d definitely try to lift it up with much better protein bar, like this one.
