Modest, but surprisingly tasty and comfortable to eat protein bar from Bulk Powders. Not perfect, for sure, but it’s pretty close to being a decently good one. And it’s well worth to give it a try.
Not all Active Foods protein snacks are the ones you should give a go. It’s enough to have a look at which one of them we’ve reviewed so far. And you’ll find the overall score of them varies from 5.6-6.3/10 pts. In other words, they’re Ok-ish at most. That’s why I didn’t expect much from this Active Foods Chocolate Praline High Protein Snack Bar. And that’s why it was pretty surprising to see it’s not that bad after all.
The smell of this protein snack bar is not too exciting for sure. But it’s nothing to be worried about. It has a pleasant aroma of chocolate with a touch of hazelnut whiff. It’s pretty OK. The bar itself is nicely soft both on the outside and inside. And that’s nothing you’d expect looking at the form of it. Anyway, it’s comfortable to bite into it and I liked it. Also, although it’s somewhat chewy, it’s just a bit sticky. But, for a change, it’s moistness is really good. In a word, the texture of this bar is remarkably good.
Pretty good taste, but a bit too soft.
This Active Foods protein snack has a charming and likeable taste. There’s an easily detectable aroma of chocolate and hazelnuts. It’s pretty tasty and well balanced. However, what it lacks is its intensity. Just a bit of it. The bar itself is not too sweet. It’s just slightly sweet. But it’s not a problem here, particularly considering its flavour balance. Hence, it might be a satisfying one for many.
Do I want another serving of this Chocolate Praline protein bar right after the first one? Why not? It was decently tasty and comfortable to eat. And that’s what I love in protein bars.
When it comes to macros, it’s not too bad considering its weight and protein content in it. An 85g bar contains 278 kcal, 9g of fat, 22g of carbs (of which only 1.7g of sugar) and as much as 26g of protein. And a solidly good amount of 16g of fibre. The ingredients list is medium-long, but it contains palm fat. Well, it could be better for sure.
Surprisingly tasty and well-balanced piece of a protein bar.
Active Foods Chocolate Praline High Protein Snack Bar can surprise with many things. Like well-balanced and pretty nice flavour. Also, being effortless to eat. And with not bad macros (including 26g of protein and 16g of fibre). And it’s moistness. Yes, it’s not perfect. And it’s pretty close to being worth stocking up.
Will I ever go back to this Active Foods protein bar? Not that I’m going to stock it. But if I find it here or there, I may say ‘let’s go for it’. In a word, I don’t say ‘no’.
