A not too bad protein cookie. With loads of protein and orange flavour. However, it’s not perfect, as you won’t find much of chocolate flavour in it.
Forget about all those protein cookies high in calories and low in protein, like these ones. This Active Foods Chocolate Orange High Protein Cookie from Bulk Powders is also pretty high in calories, but, for a change, it has a lot of protein in it too. Therefore, it’s not a bad option before or after your workout. But still, it’s not perfect either.
What welcomes us in this protein cookie is its attracting smell. There’s a lot of orange and chocolate aroma in the fragrance of its cookie. And they’re both intensive. Therefore, this cookie is decently inviting. A bit toughy on the outside, this snack is pretty soft on the inside. Also, it’s not chewy and just barely sticky. And a bit crumbly. Its moistness is pretty OK, so there should be no problem with biting into it. In short, it has a not bad texture after all.
Really orangy, not too chocolaty, still.
This protein cookie is pretty nice in its flavour. There’s a lot of orange flavour in it. Or rather, a combination of orange and slightly bitterish orange zest. And a bit of chocolate. Or rather, not enough to make it chocolaty enough. However, that combination of flavour is much tastier than you could expect from this description. It’s pretty nice and flavourish. But, there’s a slightly detectable flavour of sweeteners too. However, it might be not a problem for many. Also, there’s no weird aroma of aftertaste. Putting all those things together, we get a cookie that is flavourish, but not too sweet. Therefore, it’s not satisfying after all, unfortunately.
Do I want another serving of this Active Foods protein cookie right after the first one? Not actually. It was pretty tasty and comfortable to eat, but I was missing that satisfying experience after eating it.
When it comes to macros, it’s not too bad for sure. This cookie is not too small as it weighs 75g. It means it won’t be too lean and it’s not. A single cookie has 291 kcal and 9.3g of fat. But there’s only 22.8g of carbs (including just 4.1g of sugar). Also, a pretty nice amount of 27.8g of protein makes this cookie not that bad in macros. It’s caloric, for sure, but for a reason. Going further, this cookie contains added sugar and palm oil and it’s nothing good.
Not too lean, but not that bad in taste.
Active Foods Chocolate Orange High Protein Cookie is not a bad cookie after all. Yes, it could be a bit better in its taste. And it could be a bit softer. But overall, it’s nothing that should put you off. Therefore, if you’re looking for a not too bad pre- or post-workout cookie, then this one might be worth considering after all.
Will I ever go back to this Action Foods protein cookie? I don’t think so. It’s not that bad for sure. Especially, considering it contains as much as 27.8g of protein. However, the flavour does matter to me as well and this is where I can see a room for improvement here.
